This is the name given to the viewpoint that is located on part of what is now an extinct volcano, although its original name is “Mirador Tariácuri”.
It was built in 1936, during the government of Lázaro Cárdenas del Río, designed by Mr. Luis Ortiz Lazcano, whose pillars simulate tree branches and is ideal for spending the day with family or friends as it has a kiosk with tables and grills, from which you can see all of Pátzcuaro and a large part of the Lake.
It is accessible by a paved path from the bypass. Upon reaching the aforementioned viewing point, it is possible to appreciate an impressive panoramic view of the city and Lake Pátzcuaro. There is also a long staircase consisting of 400 steps that allows you to climb to the top of the crater, which has largely deteriorated due to the indiscriminate exploitation of its sand mines.
It is also possible to go paragliding. To get there you have to go along a cobbled path surrounded by trees. It is located just three kilometers from the center of Pátzcuaro.
