Uruapan is the second largest city in Michoacán, considered the world capital of avocados, a land blessed with a privileged climate and an impressive natural environment.

Located in the heart of the P’urhépecha Plateau, founded by the P’urhépecha in the 14th century, the city was originally called Uruapani, which means “place of abundance and fruits” in their language. During the colonial era, Uruapan became an important commercial and agricultural center due to its strategic location on the trade route between Acapulco and Mexico.

Uruapan is a tourist destination par excellence, where history, culture and nature intertwine to offer a unique experience. The city sits on the banks of the Barranca del Cupatitzio, where the "singing river" runs, a symbol of life and fertility that has nourished these lands for centuries.
