Ubicación: Tupátaro
Tupátaro is located in the municipality of Huiramba, and its population benefits from the tourist influx that its wonderful temple attracts. It also attracts many people by being located within the basin of Lake Pátzcuaro, an area known for its traditions and customs.
This town was founded around 1641 and has a rich history that dates back to pre-Hispanic times. It also has a unique heritage from the colonial era given by evangelization, an example of which is the church of Santiago Apóstol.
You can get there via Highway 14 (Morelia-Pátzcuaro) which is the best known route and the one used by tourists, locals, and public transportation (Cuanajo-Pátzcuaro-Cuanajo) that make the Morelia-Pátzcuaro route, turning off towards the nearest towns on this highway that connects both cities.
