One of the main attractions of the region is the boat trip to this island, whose name means “corn hair” and which is the largest and most important island in the lake. Here you can admire and buy a wide variety of handicrafts, taste exquisite typical dishes in its numerous restaurants run by the island’s inhabitants. When you reach the highest part, you can visit the interior of the enormous statue of Morelos – which can be seen from far away – decorated inside with more than 50 murals alluding to the life of this character and the War of Independence. If you climb to the top of the statue, you will enjoy another impressive, wide and pleasant panoramic view.
