The interior of the temple is spacious and has a single nave. The walls are decorated with frescoes and religious paintings that depict scenes from the life of St. Peter and other saints. The ceiling is made of wood and is supported by visible beams that give it a rustic and authentic touch.

The main altar is a masterpiece of wood carving, with gilded and polychrome details. In the centre of the altar is an image of St. Peter on his throne, flanked by Solomonic columns supporting an ornate canopy.

In addition to being a place of worship, the temple is a symbol of Jarácuaro's rich cultural and religious heritage, and hosts important festivities such as the Day of the Dead and the Fiesta de la Candelaria.
