Parish of Our Lord of Forgiveness

The Parish of Our Lord of Forgiveness in Zirahuén is a significant religious building in the Michoacán region. It was established by the Franciscans, probably in the 16th century, and has been a focal point of the community ever since.

La parroquia presenta una arquitectura colonial típica de la región, con una fachada sencilla y elegante. La entrada principal es un arco de medio punto, flanqueado por columnas toscanas. La torre campanario, ubicada a un lado de la fachada, tiene un diseño clásico con ventanas en arco y una cúpula que alberga las campanas.

The interior of the parish church is spacious and has a central nave. The walls are decorated with frescoes and religious paintings depicting biblical scenes. The main altar is a masterpiece of wood carving, with gilded and polychrome details.

The parish has been a place of worship and community since its founding. In 1733, it was part of the 125 parishes of the bishopric of Michoacán and was administered by a priest of the secular clergy. Over the years, it has been restored and preserved, maintaining its historical and cultural importance in the region.
