Parish of the Immaculate Conception of Santa Clara del Cobre

The Parish of the Immaculate Conception, located in the heart of Santa Clara del Cobre, Michoacán, is an architectural gem dating back to the 17th century. This temple stands out for its Baroque-style façade and for preserving original details from the period, such as the paintings of saints that adorn the interior of its ceiling.

An interesting peculiarity is the oral tradition that indicates that in the tower of this temple, the famous character Pito Pérez narrated his misfortunes to the writer José Rubén Romero, author of “The Useless Life of Pito Pérez.”

Next to the parish church is the chapel known as La Huatápera, considered the oldest in the town. This chapel houses images of Saint Clare and Saint Francis of Assisi, and is part of the elements that made up the Hospital of Indians in the 16th century, reflecting Vasco de Quiroga's legacy in the region.

When visiting Santa Clara del Cobre, it's a good idea to visit the main square, where three emblematic churches are located: the Parish of the Immaculate Conception, the Temple of Our Lady of the Tabernacle, and La Huatápera. This square is the heart of the town and reflects its rich cultural and religious heritage.
