Legends of the Tacámbaro Pool
Like every lake in Michoacán, the pool or Eye of Heaven has a legend that involves the Purépecha King named Tacamba, who went to this waterhole to calm down. It also tells of the conflict that involved the King's sister, Ireri, who refused to be baptized by Cristóbal de Oñate.
An explanation for why little green and blue flowers float in the heart of the lake was created by the legend that tells how two maidens fought in the pool for the love of a man, however, they both drowned, which is why every spring mysterious flowers appear in the lake.
