The K’uínchekua It is a Purépecha cultural celebration that takes place in the archaeological zone of the Yácatas, in Tzintzuntzan, Michoacán. Its name means "party" in Purépecha and also refers to the "dream in heaven." This event seeks to preserve and spread the artistic, musical, dance, and religious traditions of Michoacán's indigenous communities.
The festival has roots in the 1990s and has become a tribute to the region's cultural diversity. During K'uínchekua, traditional dances, music, ritual ceremonies, and craft exhibitions are performed. In addition, culinary activities are held with typical dishes such as uchepos and corundas.
During the three days of performances, the first day is reserved for participating Indigenous communities, while the remaining days are open to the public. Activities include artistic presentations in the Yácatas, as well as food and craft areas open before and after the show.
It is a unique experience to immerse yourself in the richness of the Purépecha culture!
