The Fábrica de San Pedro Cultural Center is located in Uruapan, Michoacán, and is an emblematic space that combines history and culture. Originally, the Fábrica de San Pedro was a textile factory that operated from 1897 until the end of the 20th century. In 2022, it was transformed into a cultural center by the Javier Marín Foundation.
The cultural center is dedicated to the experimentation and production of contemporary art, design and food culture. Since its opening, it has received more than 50 thousand visitors and has generated numerous publications in local and national press. In addition, the center promotes the exchange of traditional and contemporary knowledge, and seeks to strengthen the cultural identity of the community.
The building covers an area of 12,000 m² and is divided into two parts: one houses a textile company that preserves the artisan tradition, and the other is the convention and exhibition center. The center also houses workshops, public programs and residencies for artists and artisans.
In addition to being an important cultural landmark, the Fábrica de San Pedro Cultural Centre has also become a meeting point for the local community and visitors. Throughout the year, the centre offers a varied programme of cultural events such as art exhibitions, concerts, conferences and workshops that seek to encourage citizen participation and cultural exchange. Its historical and architectural setting, combined with its contemporary cultural offering, make this place a unique space that celebrates both heritage and innovation.
